We believe in the authority, inspiration, and infallibility of the Holy Bible as the written Word of God. The Scriptures are God-breathed and were given through holy men moved by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the final authority for faith, doctrine, conduct, and Christian living. Through it, God reveals His nature, His will, and His redemptive plan for humanity. We believe the Bible is living and powerful, able to teach, correct, instruct, and transform lives. It is central to our worship, teaching, discipleship, and understanding of God’s purposes for this age and the age to come.
We believe in the sovereignty of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus’ sovereignty refers to His supreme power and authority over the entire universe. We believe that Jesus Christ is not only the Son of God but also God Himself incarnate, part of the Holy Trinity alongside the Father and the Holy Spirit. As such, we believe that Jesus possesses ultimate authority and control over all things. Our belief in the sovereignty of Jesus is rooted in various biblical teachings. For example, in the New Testament, Jesus is displayed his power over nature (calming the storm, walking on water), authority over sickness and death (healing the sick, raising the dead), and dominion over spiritual forces (casting out demons). Additionally, passages such as Philippians 2:9-11 proclaim that “God exalted him [Jesus] to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Overall, our acknowledgement of the sovereignty of Jesus Christ means recognizing His absolute authority over all creation, both in the spiritual realm and in the physical world. It is a central tenet of our faith and shapes their understanding of God’s plan for salvation and the future of humanity.
We believe in the Holy Spirit as the third person of the Trinity, alongside God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. The Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God at work in the world and in the lives of believers. The Holy Spirit is the agent of God’s presence and action in the world. In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit has been known to empower individuals for specific tasks, such as prophets, judges, and kings. In our days, the Holy Spirit is guiding, empowering, and comforting believers, as well as convicting people of sin and leading them to faith in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is also the source of spiritual gifts and fruits. Spiritual gifts are special abilities given to believers for the purpose of building up the church and serving others. These gifts include things like prophecy, teaching, healing, and speaking in tongues. The fruits of the Spirit, on the other hand, are qualities or virtues that the Spirit produces in the lives of believers, such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We believe that the Holy Spirit plays a vital role in the process of salvation. It is the Holy Spirit who convicts people of sin, draws them to faith in Jesus Christ, and empowers them to live a life in accordance with God’s will. Overall, our belief in the Holy Spirit is central to our understanding of God’s presence and activity in the world, as well as our own spiritual lives and growth. The Holy Spirit is the personal and dynamic aspect of God’s nature, continually at work in the lives of believers and in the world around us.
